_The Nest

RENOVATION / Grey Lynn

The Nest is a two-bedroom Grey Lynn townhouse reimagined as a healthy, high-performing home in a prime central Auckland location. Severe water ingress had compromised much of the interior - mould, damage, and an unhealthy environment required a complete reset.

Good_Space led the interior design and delivery, coordinating trades to rebuild the home from the inside out. A new kitchen was introduced, low-tox material selections prioritised wellbeing, and each space resolved to feel calm, cohesive + quietly elevated.

Designed as a strategic pre-sale renovation, the focus was to create something distinctive yet accessible to the market. Fully staged by Good_Space, The Nest sold quickly above expectations and above CV - demonstrating the value of thoughtful, wellness-led design + high-end styling.

Good_Space Method

  • Low VOC paint used across both the interior and exterior of the home

Formaldehyde-Free, natural kitchen cabinetry, VOC-free adhesives

    Natural Quartize stone bench top

Plentiful natural ventilation, with new joinery installed that opens up the home

Interior elements include air purifying plants in all indoor spaces

Natural soft furnishings selected for all bedrooms

  • Water efficient toilets and tapware installed

    ‘Energy Star’ rated appliances procured

  • Energy efficient LED lighting replaced the old halogen light fixtures

Additional glazing added to enhance natural light and the connection to nature

Glare and reflection are avoided via considered approach to materials

  • Use of natural textures and patterns shows up in every room via both materials, furniture + soft furnishings

The new joinery takes in the large established trees

Indoor plants continue that connection from the outside into each space

  • N/a

  • Instead of demolishing the bathrooms, we instead re-grouted the tiles, used the existing sinks + updated the tapware/toilets

The stunning Taj Mahal Quartzite used for the kitchen was produced using offcuts

Energy Smart appliances installed into the kitchen

“505 Construction was grateful for the opportunity to work with Jade and learn how to approach house renovations considering Wellness Architecture.

It was a refreshing experience to have a client so knowledgeable in the tools to maximise the potential for space through light, sound and nature.

The Villa is still one of our favourite projects to reference due it’s strong aesthetics and design principles. We look forward to working with Good_Space again in the near future.”
